Finding resonance in art
Welcome to Sanjay’s world, where law and art intertwine. His legal profession, rooted in logic, in the realm of black and white, structured in clearly defined expressions, somewhat contrasts with the fluid form of art, which has no boundaries, celebrates vivid shades of colours and yet accommodates the sketches of thoughts in black and white, blends abstracts with discernible shapes and gets submerged with nature. It is this balance that draws him to the fascinating world of art. Juxtaposed with the meticulous preparation that is required in law, he ventures into the world of art with no planning or calculations. Art allows him to be himself without being required to deliver and yet enjoy the boundless creativity of the artists.

Sanjay’s approach to collecting art is deeply personal and intuitive. He did not plan to be an art collector. He just picked up what he came across and happened to like. His collection is thus an eclectic mosaic, reflecting a diverse range of artistic expressions. From a deeply spiritual and mystical inner journey undertaken by him while navigating through various works of Freydoon Rassouli, Sanjay got emotionally connected to the immense pathos depicted in the work of Arpana Caur, giving a perspective to the myriad of miseries faced by human beings and constant endeavours of good souls in making sincere efforts to provide succour in their sufferings.
The collections convey profound messages of life
Charu Lata collection of Sudip Roy instantly takes one to the celebration of the female form of beauty rooted in the tradition of Bengal. It seamlessly connects one to the cultural vibrations emerging from the land of Tagore and Sarat Chandra.
Senior artists, namely Ramesh Kumar, Alka Raghuvanshi, and Amitesh Verma never fail to amaze Sanjay with their boundless ability to use colours and bring forth symbolism in such manifest form as not only makes him immediately connect to the “stated”, but immediately takes him to dive into the ocean of “unstated”.
The contemporary strokes of artists like Nisha Sharma, Vishakha Apte, Vijaya Ved, Balesh Jindal, Seema Pandey, and Kangana Kharbanda are naturally gifted and perhaps the woman in them empowers them with an extraordinary ability to understand and convey profound messages of life, without being loud and in most subtle manner. They have blended lessons of life that nature teaches us unconsciously with multiple shades of human emotions in their enormously meaningful work. Sanjay truly feels blessed to be floating in the vibes that their work has infused in his home and workplace.

Art has been an invaluable source of inspiration
Interestingly, Sanjay’s engagement with art has enriched his capabilities as a lawyer for the simple reason that he enjoys doing his work rather than perceiving it as a burden and despite a fair degree of familiarity and element of repetitiveness, he can overcome the feeling of monotony and find some new angle or proposition in each of his legal briefs. This contribution of art is extremely invaluable because it helps him to add value to his professional work and keeps his creativity. The broad horizons, that Sanjay can see through his art collection, have honed his ability to view legal challenges through a different lens. The spirituality of art complements his legal career by offering a serene counterbalance to the demanding nature of law and it also enriches his life by providing a deeper sense of purpose and connection to the world. Art has taught him the importance of exploring every narrative’s depth, an invaluable yet rare skill in the courtrooms.
