Impact Stories
My professional interaction with Mr. Sanjay Jain occurred during a critical period in my career when I assumed the role of Secretary at the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, and he was serving as the Additional Solicitor General (ASG) with the Central Government. During this time, Mr. Jain was responsible for handling a series of complex and sensitive legal cases related to the allocation of coal blocks, which were of significant importance to the ministry and the government at large. His contributions during this period were invaluable. Mr. Jain's expertise, combined with his professional conduct, not only greatly benefited the Ministry of Coal but also reflected positively on the government's handling of these sensitive and important matters. His work during this time remains a testament to his capabilities as a legal professional and his dedication to public service.Anil Swarup, IAS

Mentor, guiding light, exceptional teacher, confidant is just a start to the litany of words that I can use to describe Mr. Sanjay Jain, who I have had the extremely good fortune of closely interacting with, learning from and being inspired by. My journey as a lawyer began in his chambers, initially as a long tenure intern and followed by spending the first two years of my legal career assisting him during his term as Central Government Standing Counsel in the Delhi High Court. Hard work, always being over prepared including for the remotest eventualities and arguments, focussing on the details but not missing the big picture, never compromising the interest of the client and above all being a good human are some of the aspects that he lives by and tries to pass on to all under his tutelage. He has always believed in finding time to pursue his interests outside law, be it to read, appreciate art and poetry or spend time in nature.Joebin Devassy

As a young starry-eyed young 22-year-old boy who joined Boss, as I and many others know Mr. Sanjay Jain, in 1994 and until today, he has remained the single biggest influence on me as a professional and as a person. The first draft of a short application given for his review was returned corrected with a red pen. Other than the cause title and “Respectfully Showeth” there was probably not a single word which was returned uncorrected. Seeing that amount of red handwriting on that short a draft did wonders for the confidence of that young boy who was the second batch fresh out of NLSIU, Bangalore and was told repeatedly for those 5 years in college that the profession was waiting for us, the special ones! That day and the day when Boss did not make a single change in a petition that I had drafted will remain imprinted in my memory. The movement was carefully crafted by the guru, bit by bit. The young boy grew to be a man, never an equal, but hopefully a worthy disciple. The guru remains the guru.Gyanendra Kumar

I have had the privilege of briefing Mr. Sanjay Jain since past 18 years. One of the most memorable aspects of my experience with Mr. Jain dates back to when I first started working with him. He made a commitment to my professional development, stating that he would either help me become independent in my role or provide me with the necessary skills to do so. True to his word, Mr. Jain has been a constant source of support and inspiration. His approach to mentorship is not just about imparting knowledge; it's about fostering a sense of confidence and capability in his mentees. He has a unique ability to identify and nurture potential, providing tailored guidance that helps individuals grow beyond what they thought possible. Mr. Sanjay Jain has been more than a boss or a mentor - he's been a guiding force in our legal careers. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such a person of exceptional intelligence and legal acumen.Arjun Mitra,
